Atlas: a core application redesign, shipped without a rewrite

Atlas needed a modern product without betting the company on a from-scratch rewrite. We redesigned it in place, surface by surface.

The Challenge

Atlas's core flows were dated, but the app was too load-bearing to pause for a rewrite. Any redesign had to ship alongside a live product used by millions every day.

Our Approach

We introduced a design system behind a feature flag and migrated one flow at a time, measuring engagement at each step. Design and engineering worked as one team, so there were no handoffs to slow the cadence or blur the intent.

The Outcome

The redesign shipped incrementally with zero downtime, and the new core flows lifted key engagement metrics without a single big-bang release. Atlas got a modern product and kept its nerve.
